Salmon DNA (Polynucleotides / PDRN) – Sakarya

Information on salmon DNA (polynucleotides / PDRN)

Products known as “salmon DNA” usually contain polynucleotides (PN) or polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) purified from salmon or trout DNA fragments. The two terms do not always describe the same product; molecular size, purity and manufacturing standards can differ. The contents and authorization status of the product to be used must be verified separately.

Purpose and expectations

Polynucleotide procedures are assessed for skin quality, fine lines and thin-skinned areas such as around the eyes. Laboratory studies suggest effects on pathways related to tissue repair. A 2025 systematic review reported positive findings in some clinical studies but emphasized that studies are few, samples are small and methods differ. A definite effect size or durability therefore cannot be predicted.

The procedure

Skin type, expectations, current medicines and allergy history are assessed during the examination. Small amounts are injected into the skin with a fine needle or cannula. The number and interval of sessions are planned according to the product and the individual assessment.

Treatment details

Duration: About 20–30 minutes.

Who it is for: Adults with fine lines, thin-skinned areas such as around the eyes, or reduced skin quality.

Number of sessions: Usually 2–4 sessions, 2–3 weeks apart. The final plan is set by the physician after the examination.

Possible risks

Redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising are common and usually resolve quickly. Less commonly, infection, nodules or allergic reactions may occur. In people allergic to fish products, the product contents should be assessed separately.

Who may not be suitable?

An active infection in the area, known allergy to a product component or to fish-derived products, pregnancy and breastfeeding, and a bleeding tendency are assessed separately.

Aftercare

Avoiding make-up on the first day and not pressing on the area may be advised. Marked or increasing swelling, pain or redness should be reported to the physician.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between salmon DNA and a skin booster?

Skin boosters are mostly hyaluronic-acid based, whereas salmon DNA products contain polynucleotides or PDRN. Their aims are similar, but their contents and levels of evidence differ.

Is salmon DNA a filler?

No. Polynucleotide products are not used to add volume.

When is the result assessed?

Assessment is usually made after a few weeks. Not everyone experiences the same change.
