Dermapen (Microneedling) – Sakarya

Information on Dermapen (microneedling)

Dermapen is a microneedling device that creates controlled micro-channels in the skin surface with a tip containing very fine needles. During healing of this micro-injury, support of collagen production and improvement in skin quality are aimed for. It can be done alone or with products the physician considers suitable.

Treatment details

Duration: About 45–60 minutes including numbing cream.

Who it is for: Adults with acne scars, visible pores, fine lines or reduced skin quality whose active acne is under control.

Number of sessions: Usually 3–6 sessions, about 4 weeks apart. The final plan is set by the physician after the examination.

Evidence and expectations

Systematic reviews report that microneedling can improve the appearance of skin rejuvenation and acne scars; results depend on the number of sessions and scar type. It may be limited on its own for deep scars.

Possible risks

Redness, tenderness and mild swelling may last a few days. Less commonly, infection, post-inflammatory darkening, cold sore activation and, rarely, granulomatous reactions to applied products may occur; therefore only products suitable for this purpose should be applied to the skin.

Who may not be suitable?

Active acne or infection, cold sores, recent isotretinoin use, bleeding tendency, a tendency to scarring, pregnancy and breastfeeding are assessed separately.

Aftercare

Avoiding make-up on the first day and using the moisturizer and sunscreen recommended by the physician are advised.

Frequently asked questions

Is Dermapen the same as gold needle?

No. Gold needle also delivers radiofrequency energy through the needles; Dermapen is microneedling only.

How many sessions are needed?

Usually 3–6 sessions are planned; the number depends on skin condition.

Does it hurt?

Because numbing cream is applied, most people feel a mild prickling.
