Cryolipolysis (Clatuu)

Information on cryolipolysis (Clatuu)

Cryolipolysis is a nonsurgical body-contouring method that targets subcutaneous adipose tissue in a selected area through controlled cooling. It is not a treatment for obesity, a weight-loss method, or an alternative to a healthy diet and physical activity.

A 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis reported reductions in certain body measurements and showed that the studies differed in terms of devices and protocols. Temporary redness, bruising, pain, tenderness, numbness, and changes in sensation may occur. Cold injury and prolonged nerve pain are less common. A rare but important risk is paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, in which adipose tissue in the treated area enlarges instead of becoming smaller; it may not resolve spontaneously.
